Is This Thing On?

So this is the third or maybe its the forth bs blog start? I’ve lost count. But the point is we are attempting to make this thing work, the bleustockings blog that is. Here you can expect to find the secrets to life along with many other fascinating tid-bits. The truth is we don’t really know what the hell anyone is going to come up with but the need is here. Bleustockings is evolving into what theloveofpete and I originally intended it to be which is a magazine of sorts. Reading material for the inquisitive, off-beat, feminist desperately seeking her holy grail; courageously slaying the Dragon of Thou Shalt (to paraphrase good ol’ Joseph Campbell); and who’s not opposed to the occasional cheese puff sandwich washed down with an extra dry vodka martini or perhaps a mangomosa or two.

  1. Not all of us are feminists I’ve been told. Perhaps “humanists” or “compassionists” would be a better choice of words.

  2. As my former boss says, a feminist is something who thinks women should have the same rights as men. By that definition, I certainly am a feminist. Unfortunately the word causes a kneejerk reaction in many people — and not in a good way.

Humanist or compassionist are both good alternatives. Goddess works, too. For the record, I self-identity as Other/Earthling.

  3. I have no problem with being called a feminist, I feel quite certain that it is men that have given the word feminist a bad rep. you would think in this time, 2011 that we would no longer be concerned of women’s rights but perhaps it is the most volatile time in history for women. It’s this strange time where all women feel safe with our rights but there are some nut jobs out there who may take our comfort for their benefit and make changes to the legal system that benefit men and criminalize women. women need to be on guard more than ever. long live feminism!!!!!!!
